Second Stamp

The first stamp I made, I was nervous to do too much to. I was still uncomfortable with photoshop so I didn't do so much with it. After given the chance to fix it or make another, I went with a new one. I stayed with the same breast cancer awareness theme, it is something very important to me, I am a huge supporter.

I got the background ribbon online. I duplicated it to add the texture to it and I slightly blurred it because I wanted the rest of the stamp to stand out more. The bracelets I also found online and they were originally a pink going to melon color. I messed with the hue, saturation and brightness to get it more pink and less melon. I also enhanced the words in each of the bracelets. As far as the text goes, I had a really hard time trying to pick the color. I thought there was already too much pink and to me black just didn't look right. To lessen the pink variety, I copied the same pink from the inside of the bracelet.
The border was originally from a stamp of Honer Simpson I found online, I cut his face out of the inside and then lassoed the outside, I saved it as a new and separate file. I then opened the stamp and the border and I added the stamp into it and made it fit.

I enjoyed actually doing all these things, I was really nervous and afraid to mess up the first time, so I am really glad I was given the chance to try it again because I ended up learning a lot.

Video Project

After long hours of editing, our museum project finally came to a finish. While Caroline went to the museum to get me some last minute footage, I tried to fix all the glitches. Some parts I really don't know what went wrong, it might have been an export problem. It definately is a lot less glitchy then it was last night. For my first video ever, I actually had a lot of fun creating it, I can say I learned a lot.

Hole in the Wall

We went to an low key Pizzeria

We also did an elevator for a more literal interpretation

Med 150... MY feelings....

The class as a whole was really interesting. There were many aspects of the class I really enjoyed, such as the museum of moving image or the photoshop exercises. I learned so much but I wish we didn't have to pack a lot of stuff in one lab class. I think that we need less lecture and more lab time, because lab time is the most helpful. Another thing is the lab hours, it seemed that only on Wednesdays we could use the lab hours for the longest time. So many of these programs a lot of people don't have at home so I would've liked for there to be more available lab hours.
The professors were good especially with the use of video footage or photographs so they can help us understand what they are teaching us.
I must say that the hardest thing i had to do  (other then take the tests) was editing. I had to learn it with the help of a friend and once i got the hang of it I found it extremely useful.
I liked that we all watched each other's work, but wished the critique wasn't so time consuming because in that time I would have rather learned more about final cut or photoshop.
I am excited to tale the next class, 160 but expect it to be even more difficult and more frustrating then this one was. I hope I can learn more techniques.

Design Assignement

I had a hard time thinking of something specific, at first i wanted to do a designer emblem, such as Louis Vuitton. It's one of my favorite brands when it comes to bags for many reasons, but instead I thought deeper and went with one of my favorite "chick flix".

This DVD cover can be seen as simple, yet it conveys a powerful emotion. The whole film is about love and how it was captured and embraced and lost and recaptured and held by these two characters. I feel that the picture a lone in the center is a strong shot of the two especially under the rain which is typically associated with romance. The title is in a simple font, nothing fancy that disrupts the beauty of the shot and the main point of this cover. Like every other cover out there, this is obviously photoshopped and altered, but not exaggerated at all. I love the simplicity of it. From their facial expression to the glow placed around them, it makes it clear who the story is about and with the one line above thier heads, we know what to expect.
I also liked that the colors aren’t dramatic. The font is black which remains consistent with the simplicity of this picture. The background colors are perfect because they don’t get in the way of the focus, which are the characters. Even they aren’t wearing anything too crazy, which also helps because the viewer is supposed to notice their facial expression and also the way they are embracing eachother.

Museum of the Moving Image

The participation I took part in was the one when the guide showed a group of us the scene of Titanic and broke every sound in the scene down for us to understand. As far as I was concerned, everything I saw during a scene happened then, except for special effects of course. I had no idea that there were many different parts to the sounds in a single scene. All the elements of the scene we saw were necessary to convey a feeling. In that particular scene, the sound effects gave me a sense of desperation as the characters played out.
I also learned about the sounds that you get from a media library that one can play backward or extend and get extremely creative with. My favorite one was when he played the lions roar backwards in the scene. It’s something completely unexpected. It’s still a little odd when I think back on all the sound effects I learned about and now know that a soda can, or a rifle created some of them. Another important aspect I thought was the music. It just makes the scene that much more dramatic, especially when it comes to different times were it picks up or gets low again.
Technology has completely transformed the media experience. There are now so many elements available and endless creativity that can only come about.  It’s hard to believe that at one point, movies were silent. The moving image has now made all aspects of media and it’s creativity limitless with what it can offer.

Stamp Art

I chose this picture because I've always been a big breast cancer supporter. I used some basic tools we learned in the class such as cutting and copying. The layers were a struggle at first and then I finally got it. I  decided to make part of the picture in black and white so that the pink stands out the most. I made it more vibrant with the use of enhance. I also decided to keep it a USA stamp since breast cancer is such a huge issue especially were I am from, Long Island.

What is Warmth?

We were assigned to go round the school and find things that convey warmth... this is what warmth is to me::

For this image, I approached warmth in a non literal way. The connection this student has with his music, his piano, is a connection that brings a sense of warmth. It may be due to accomplishment or the passion. I made it so that you can't see his face, it's a natural shot and he is focused in his art.

For this image, I wanted to portray the natural light versus the artificial light. Both of the sun and the unlit  lightbulb gives warmth. The linearity of this shot gives it depth and the angle from below shows the height.

I was walking in the area of the 4th floor were you have all the music rooms and came across this opened office. I felt the warmth right away because of the home like feeling it gives. You have the family photos in the background and the collage to the right that convey a closeness, warmth. The red wall also helps convey the feeling.

Artist Statement

The art I represent is evolving from the lost puppy with the curiosity of a cat I am.

I'm a visionary of the countless explorations I'd like to take part in. The lessons in failure I'm growing from to succeed in finding my niche. I am motivated by the instinct of curiosity taken to the next level. I scavenge my way into knowing things that have nothing to do with me, things I find important.

As a child I had the muteness of a mime, but always kept my ears wide opened.  My family called me "chismosa" which is Spanish for gossiper.  I almost blended with the drama queens I lived with, but then I grew up and acquired my own identity. I've become quite talented in rationalizing. I believe this is why I inform others of situations, whether serious or not. I want to spread knowledge.

One thing is certain, I am the camera. Whether behind the scenes moving rapidly or in front of it asking a questions, the camera is my best friend.

I'm intrigued by the unusual, which could just be my ignorance to others' way of life, which is why I can watch documentaries all day long. Constantly learning about something unknown to me.

Somebody that I look up to is Lisa Ling. She goes above and beyond for her job. Her bravery and dedication are qualities I admire and it was captured in one of her documentaries she worked with National Geographic about North Korea. I was captivated by the the strict and rare televised society and seeing Lisa stand her ground knowing her life could be in danger, but still getting the facts
was impressive. A true professional.

Entertainment to me is like a car accident, you slow down and can't look away. Everyday Perez Hilton gets me through class. I need to know what is happening in my neighborhood, the world, or in a random actor's household.

As an artist, I am exploring and gaining as many skills as I can to pick a side. I'm in the center of juicy gossip and serious matters. We'll see were my encounters take me.
